Weekly Disney Roundup December 12, 2014

And we're back!

After having to go through all of 2014 without a Pixar movie, we're getting two of them next year. The first of the two, Inside Out released a trailer earlier this year. Check it out below.

Tumblr figures out a inside joke (maybe intentional, maybe not) in Hercules that took years to find.

And archivist in Norway has found a nearly complete copy of the Walt Disney cartoon Empty Socks featuring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. (For those who don't know, Oswald was the character that Walt Disney created prior to his creation of Mikey Mouse)
The film was previously thought to have been lost with only around 25 seconds remaining. This find marks the second time lost footage of an Oswald cartoon has been found in recent years after a reel containing the Oswald cartoon Hungry Hobos was found in the U.K. back in 2011.
The footage has been digitized and sent to The Wat Disney Company.

And finally, enjoy this video of a small girl putting Gaston in his place during a signing and photo session at the Disney Parks.

Disney Magic #64: A Podcast of Ice-olation

This podcast is all about Disney's film Frozen, which gives us two new disney princesses, and one of them gets to become a disney queen. In fact she's the first Disney Queen to have magic and not use that magic for evil (Unlike that one from Snow White all those years ago) We also get not one but two sentient snowmen, some trolls, a reindeer, and a big summer blowout. What more could you want?

Weekly Disney Roundup: February 13th 2014

Another week, another version of "Let It Go" to listen to. This week comes from a youtuber named Malinda Kathleen Reese who took the lyrics of "Let It Go" and sent it through several different languages on Google Translate before sending it back to English and then sang the result. Very much worth the time to listen to it below.

In honor of Valentine's Day this week, Disney is showing a short film titled Blank: A Vinylmation Love Story about an unpainted Vinylmation character that is looking for it's soulmate and will use practical stop motion effects. The sort is being shown at the Premiere Theatre inside Disney's Hollywood Studios, but for those that can't make it, the short can be viewed for free here.

Because the Winter Olympics are here, we have a chart to discover What Disney Sports movie you should watch right now.

And finally, this particular video is in no way recent or newsworthy, but earlier this week, both Megan and Joel struggled to remember what song lined up so well with the "Bet On It" footage from High School Musical 2. Turns out it was the Pokemon theme song as proved by the video below.

Weekly Roundup: February 5th, 2014

It's time for another weekly roud up guys!

First up, these weren't actually announced this week, but they're important enough bits of information that we want to make sure you know if you don't already.
DVD/Blu ray release dates have been announced for both Frozen and Saving Mr. Banks which will both be released on March 18th.

Frozen can be pre-ordered on Amazon here.
Saving Mr. Banks can be pre-ordered here.

And yet, Frozen continues to rank up the Box Office numbers. The passed weekend, Frozen's box office total grew to $864.4 Million surpassing Catching Fire's $859.6 Million for the third highest worldwide grossing film of the year after Despicable Me 2 and Iron Man 3.

For those invested in the 90s it looks like your childhood continues to get live actioned and CGIed. A live action CGI/live action remake of the Disney cartoon show Chip n' Dale is reportedly in the works now.  The Disney based production Mandeville Films/TV, who is also responsible for the recent Muppet films is producing and while there is no information about the plot as of yet, it seems that a director has already been picked, one Robert Rugan.

Finally, while there wasn't much to say about the Super Bowl this year, fans who were watching may have noticed that it very much looked like the halftime show was put on by pop sensation Powerline. Take a look.

Weekly Disney Roundup

We're still alive, we promise! It's amazing how busy life can get. But we're back with some Disney stuff that happened this week.

Today is the 55th Anniversary of the release of Sleeping Beauty! Happy birthday to one of my favorite Disney films.

In related news, we got a new trailer for Maleficent this week! I'm still a little apprehensive about it, but I do really like the imagery and that fantastically spooky Lana Del Rey cover of "Once Upon a Dream"!

Girl Meets World is getting a full season! When? No idea. But it's gonna be 21 episodes whenever it is. More here.

Disney understands how hard it is to go see Frozen in the theaters and not belt out "Let it Go" So they're doing a special Sing-a-Long release of the movie! Check here to find showings in your area.
