Weekly Disney Roundup: June 24, 2012

Brave came out this week! Have you guys seen it yet? Don't spoil me, I'm waiting until next weekend D:

The first Monsters University teaser is out! Pretty delightful.

John Lasseter wore a kilt to the Brave premier! ...okay so it's not exactly news-worthy, but it is pretty adorable :D
Epic Mickey 2 has a release date! November 18, 2012. It's going to be out for the Wii, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Disney Magic #40: New Music, New Animation, Same Awesome Fantasia Experience

Almost 60 years after the first one we finally get to see another Fantasia movie in what we desperately hope will eventually be an ongoing series of these things. Some of the music may be more well known this time around (Beethoven's 5th and Pomp and Circumstance are both on the soundtrack) but regardless of your knowledge of classical music Fantasia 2000 (just like the original) is a movie that should be seen by all. Weekly Disney Roundup: June 17, 2012

Some of the animatronics from the new Radiator Springs Racers ride at the just-opened Cars Land at Disneyland! These are really, really impressive.

Some news on Frozen! Idina Menzel is signed on as the snow queen, and Kristen Bell has been cast as Anna. Robert Lopez and his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez are going to be doing the music. The plot also looks quite a bit different from the original story:
"In ‘Frozen,’ a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna (voice of Bell) must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen (voice of Menzel) and put an end to the icy spell. Encountering Everest-like extremes, mystical creatures and magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction."
No word yet on who's playing Kristoff, but we'll keep you updated! (Source)

Now you can try your hand at an actual version of the Wreck-It Ralph video game! It's pretty addicting. Try it out here!

These are so cool. They're called Glow with the Show Ears, and the ear parts light up with colors, and they sync up with the display at World of Color in Disneyland. More info here.

Disney Magic #39: Two Worlds, One Podcast

This week we travel into Africa again, to watch the final movie of the Disney Renaissance, Tarzan. It's a movie that seems to be overlooked a lot but it really shouldn't be. Like most of the movies we've watched recently, Tarzan features stunning animation and great characters. The relationship between Jane and her father may be the highlight of the movie. Or watching Tarzan swing effortlessly through the jungle. Direct Download Link Here

Weekly Disney Roundup: June 10, 2012

Ray Bradbury passed away this week. And while you're probably aware of his literature, you might not know much about his friendship with Walt Disney. He was also responsible for the script for what is now Spaceship Earth at Epcot. You can read a bit more about his involvement with Disney here.

Dumbo's getting a new interactive queue at Disney World! I really like the idea of having stuff to do while you wait, and this looks very cute. More info here!

At long last, a Wreck-It Ralph trailer! It's about time. It was worth the wait though, this looks amazing! The different landscapes are so cool, as are all of the little cameos. Also, Jane Lynch as uh...basically Fem!Sheppard. Yes, please!

Disney Magic #38: Mister I'll, Make a Man, Out of YOU!

For this Podcast we watched Mulan, a movie featuring one of our favorite Disney Princesses. But more importantly than that, we got to watch what may be our favorite montage scene in all of movies. Not Disney Movies. Movies. Period. So enjoy not only a great song, but also a really fun movie as well. Plus extra funny side characters and a horse that Mushu keeps calling a cow. Weekly Disney Roundup: June 3, 2012

Snow White's Scary Adventures at Disney World closed this week. While it's never been one of my favorite rides, it's always sad to see any part of the Magic Kingdom I grew up with removed. I'm hoping that the new Fantasyland ride will live up to it's crazy, creepy, and awesome predecessor. Photo from insidethemagic.

I like pretty much anything with Buzz in his fresh-out-of-the-box mode, so this is delightful.

This is so cool. That yellow-orange streak up there above Mission: Space is an actual rocket launch. More info here.

These photos of the new Cars Land at Disneyland make me want to go! And I'm not even a big fan of Cars!

Disney Magic #37: Our Triumphant return to Greek Mythology

This week's movie, Hercules, marks the second time a Disney Movie explores the world of Greek Mythology (Fantasia is the first for those keeping score at home) This time around we are treated with more stylized animations, a sassy female lead, and the funniest villain to grace a disney film. In fact Hercules may be one of the outright funniest Disney movies we've seen so far. So join us won't you?
